Frequently Asked
What is M5 and how is it different from a traditional bank?+
M5 is sovereign financial infrastructure — not a bank, custodian, or platform. Unlike a traditional bank, M5 never holds your funds, keys, or data. You hold actual title to your assets, on-chain, under constitutional-grade protections. No institution can change the rules on you.
What does "zero-custody" mean in practice?+
Zero-custody means M5 never has access to your private keys or your assets. Your wallet is self-custodied — you are the sole owner. M5 provides the infrastructure and interface; the assets settle on Base and are controlled exclusively by your private key.
How do I get started with Bank of Me?+
Start at m5bank.app/Onboard. You'll set up your M5 Identity (DID), create your zero-custody DeFi Wallet, and optionally activate Titlelock for your assets. The onboarding takes approximately 10 minutes.
What is the x402 payment protocol?+
x402 is M5's machine-native micropayment protocol — the settlement layer for Internet 3.0. It enables autonomous agents, APIs, and services to transact without human intermediation. Read the full technical specification in the Library.
How does M5 Governance work?+
M5 Governance operates through on-chain voting, Ricardian Contracts, and the Pax Economica constitutional doctrine. Members can participate in protocol votes, state activation, and cooperative governance through the Governor Tools.
